CAN YOU PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO THE INFLUENTE COMMUNITY?
My name is Fatima Al Shirawi. I am an Emirati born and raised, entrepreneur and colour consultant. I studied in Dubai but extended my studies at the George Washington University DC, where I majored in Sociology and minored in marketing. I later continued my passion in Fashion design by studying at the London College of Fashion. During my studies, I came across colour psychology and was fascinated by the science so I went on to qualify as a Colour Consultant from the Colour Affects Institute.
WHAT ARE YOUR 3 FAVORITE COLORS AND WHY?
Purple because it is such a spiritual colour, it is regal and it gives me strength
Green because it is earthy, harmonious and refreshing
Red because it is such a bold and rich colour. That is why I have Green and Red as part of my company logo.
"An Influential woman is one that inspires people to be the best versions of themselves. A woman that invests in education and self-development and portrays that unto others, especially the younger generation."
DO YOU BELIEVE THAT COLORS THAT WE WEAR CAN INFLUENCE OUR DAY?
Absolutely! Colours give off unique vibrations that influences one’s mood and energy. Knowing the right colours to wear on a day to day basis not only affects an individual, but also how people react towards them.
HOW DID YOU HAVE THE IDEA TO STUDY THE PSYCHOLOGY OF COLORS?
What sparked my interest was a color psychology class I had taken during my time at London College of Fashion. I was honored to be taught by Angela Wright; the founder of the Colour Affects System. I began to research and was intrigued by the effects it had on people’s self-esteem, focus and positivity especially for me so I took the science and found ways to diversified my services into retail, corporate marketing and branding according to people’s needs.
WHAT IS THE QUESTION THAT YOUR CLIENTS ASK YOU MOST OFTEN?
There are a few actually. The most common is ‘Does black make me slimmer?’ or ‘What colours would I wear to attract a crush or a man?’. Sometimes I get asked ‘what colour makes people take me seriously?’. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to debunk the myth that black makes one slimmer.
HOW CAN I KNOW THAT THIS COLOR OR THAT COLOR CAN CHANGE MY LIFE?
Through an individual colour consultation. During the session I assess your colour personality through a series of questions then I move on to trying different colour drapes that are in your personality’s colour palette. Based on your preference, I create a specialized colour kit that details the colours to wear for different occasions. That way, you know how to colour coordinate your closet and use these colours to your advantage. Keep in mind we are exposed to 16 million hues of colours a day!
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY AND HOW IS IT REFLECTED IN THE CHOICE OF YOUR COLORS?
According to the Colour theory, I am a Fire Light and Dream Light personality. The Fire Light personality is very outgoing and adventurous and the palette has very warm and rich colours. The Dream Light on the other hand is very diplomatic and calm with a sophisticated touch. The palette has very pastel colours; commonly called the garden colours. The Fire Light is my main personality while the Dream Light is my subordinate. I wear my Fire Light colours mostly at work and my Dream Light colours outside of work. I love to travel so during that time, I combine both palettes.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO WHEN YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL?
I always wanted to be a Fashion Designer.
WHAT IS YOUR LIFE MOTTO?
Work hard, play hard

A woman that invests in education and self-development and portrays that unto others, especially the younger generation. She also gives back to society and strongly believes in social responsibility.
NAME A WOMAN PAST OR PRESENT, WHOM YOU ADMIRE?
It’s hard to pick so I’ll say both Indira Gandhi and Oprah Winfrey because they embody all the attributes of an influential woman.
